چکیده

The structure of glycine, alanine, serine and cysteine radical cations, as well as their Ca–R fragmentations have been studied at the B3LYP/6-31CCG(d,p) level of theory. For all systems the loss of COOH is found to be the most favourable process. However, when R1 size increases, fragmentations that lead to R1 % or R1 start become competitive. The energy of a Ca–R fragmentation can be related to the ionization potential of the two generated fragments, in such a way that the preferred process is the one that leaves the positive charge in the fragment with a lower ionization potential. q 2005 Elsevier B.V. Influence of the Side Chain in the Structure and Fragmentation of Amino Acids Radical Cations.

The conformational properties of ionized amino acids (Gly, Ala, Ser, Cys, Asp, Gln, Phe, Tyr, and His) have been theoretically analyzed using the hybrid B3LYP and the hybrid-meta MPWB1K functionals as well as with the post-Hartree Fock CCSD(T) level of theory. As a general trend, ionization is mainly localized at the -NH2 group, which becomes more planar and acidic, the intramolecular hydrogen ...

The Effects of Amino Acid Composition of Glutamine-Rich Domains on Amyloid Formation and Fragmentation

Fragmentation of amyloid polymers by the chaperone Hsp104 allows them to propagate as prions in yeast. The factors which determine the frequency of fragmentation are unclear, though it is often presumed to depend on the physical strength of prion polymers. Proteins with long polyglutamine stretches represent a tractable model for revealing sequence elements required for polymer fragmentation in...

Electron Ionization of Serine and Threonine: a Discussion about Peak Intensities

The present study describes the fragmentation under electron ionization (EI) of gas phase serine and threonine amino acids. Ab initio methods were performed to calculate the fragmentation paths and interpret the mass spectra. The six lowest energy conformers of L-serine, L-threonine and L-allo-threonine were obtained with B3LYP, G3MP2 and MP2 methods. The adiabatic and vertical ionizat...

Purpose: To evaluate the amino acid, antioxidant and ionic profiles of Carpolobia lutea leaf (Polygalaceae) extract (CLL). Methods: The powdered leaf was macerated and subjected to gradient solvent extraction with nhexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate and ethanol for 72 h to obtain their respective fractions. Amino acid analysis was by cation-exchange chromatography using automated amino acid anal...

Solvent Effect Study on the Stability Energies of Glycine, Alanine and Valine Amino Acides

Glycine, Alanine and Valine are taken as amino acids with an equal polar head and with thedifference in the length of hydrocarbon chains. The structural optimizations show the results of theisolated Glycine, Alanine and Valine in the gases phase, at the Hartree-Fock level by means ofSTO-3G,3-21G, 6-31G and 6-31+G basis sets. The calculations were performed for the ten (1-10)solvents using PCM m...
